BCMS is founded in the love of music and the joy that comes from playing and sharing chamber music with others. Here are some ways we’re bringing people together in celebration of music in Bellingham.

Harmony Chamber Music Festival

The Harmony Chamber Music Festival is a youth program of BCMS. The festival includes two events: a weekend chamber music intensive and a chamber music competition. These programs are open to middle and high school-aged students from Whatcom, Skagit, San Juan and Island counties. This festival embodies our desire to create a vibrant learning space where students can expand their musical experiences in a collaborative and intensive setting that develops advanced communication skills and celebrates the joy of music making.

Partnering with Blue Skies

We continue to partner with our awesome community non-profit, Blue Skies for Children. BCMS provides Blue Skies with 2 Family Passes to each of our concerts and helps support their annual showcase and fundraising event at the Hotel Leo. Blue Skies supports children who are experiencing homelessness, living in low-income homes, and in the foster system of Whatcom and Skagit Counties. One of the enrichment and growth programs Blue Skies offers is access to private music lessons and we hope the ability to attend live performances can act as inspiration for the young people in this program!

If you are interested in learning more about the Blue Skies music lesson program, they’d love to hear from you. The program does not run all year- so don’t be dismayed if you don’t see it on their website. Call them!

Bellingham Youth Chamber Players

BCMS continues to share a vision with Bellingham Youth Chamber Players of the power and importance of chamber music for young people. BCYP is a program of the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra’s outreach efforts and provides chamber music opportunities to students playing strings, woodwinds, and piano throughout the school year. BCMS and BYCP collaborate to ensure our programs align during the year and maximize the musical opportunities for all our students.

Connect with Musicians

We’re creating a site for people who enjoy playing chamber music. We hope it will help you find others to connect with.
