We at BCMS are beyond excited to be well into our 2nd season of chamber music at the Hotel Leo. 2023-24 holds fantastic programs and musicians to share with our audiences from the classics some of you know and love to works finally being given their due. We spent the summer busily writing our first grants, an exercise in tons of work and lots of hope. We continue to explore grant opportunities to help fund our various dream projects and capital needs.
A major BCMS goal has been to become a Classical Music Hub for our community. To that end
we have various dreams in our Parking Lot of Dreams. This summer we did bring one of those
dreams to life – The Classical Community Calendar. This has quickly filled up with many of the
wonderful groups and musical energy in our local communities! If you are looking ‘at the
Month’ setting and see an empty calendar just press ‘refresh’ and it will re-populate. We are
always working out nitty gritty details on the website. A ton of work…
Classical Meetup
Another BCMS dream is to host a local online meeting space to facilitate musicians meeting each other to play chamber music together. We announced this project when it was in its nascent form at our opening concert and some of you got excited (wonderful!!) and wondered where to find it! It is not up yet – but it is further along and we will let you know when we launch it.
Beyond the Bio
Since our mission is to share with you our amazing local musicians (and sometimes their out of town friends) we want to give you a bit of insight into how we got so lucky as to have them here in Bellingham. To that end we will occasionally profile a BCMS musician in our Beyond the Bio blog. In today’s Beyond the Bio we share Eli Shille-Hudson, WWU Guitar professor.
Eli will be featured performing two works at our November 12th concert.
